Batiks for sale!

Hi all you batik lovers out there! you may recongnize my name from quiltingboard.com, where I have been a member for over 1 year and had been selling my batik fabric on this site for the past few weeks. I have since decided to try a blog to see if anyone can find me!

I tried my hand at quilting back in the 70's when I was in my early 20's. I ended up hand quilting a Cathedral Window pillow and a few other small pieces - that was it. I then took up quilting again in 2004 and have been at it since. I find myself piecing 95% of the time with batiks - I just LOVE them!

I lived in Bali 2006-2008 and had the most wonderful time meeting the manufacturers of the beautiful batik you see in the quilt shops. Some of the brands such as Island, Hoffman, Princess Mirah and Batik Textiles come from Bali, the island of the Gods. I have met the manufacturers and have been to the factories - it is unbelievable to watch these fabrics as they are made.

In addition to buying fabric from these manufacturers, I had the opportunity to purchase batiks made with unique designs and ended up with about 3000 yards in my stash. I quiltied many days of the week while living there and when I wasn't quilting, it seems like I was buying batik! I also have many pieces of beautiful ikat and other woven fabric. It is all gorgeous and it is sometimes difficult to cut!
